If you get lost in the depths of our range designed for wood lovers, know that the most frequently used tools to start are:
- the Cabinet Makers rasp, 10″, grain # 9, or 8″, grain # 11.
- the Rat Tail rasp, 8″, grain # 12.
- the Wood Riffler #1, 7″, grain # 13.

1. Stitching grains
Grains are numbered from # 1 (the coarsest) to # 15 (the finest).
By coarse, we mean that in a given area there will be fewer but higher teeth than that for a finer grain.
So the first numbers are used for roughing, one pass of the tool removing much material. The high numbers are used for finishing work, to achieve a flawless surface.
Warning ! During the stitching operation of the teeth, we direct them to optimize the work of a right-handed user.
On request (and without no additional cost because it’s no more difficult to stitch for us), all these models are stitched specialy for left-handers.

A tapered, wide rasp with convex and flat sides. Ideal for cabinet work, useful in preparing flat surfaces and working hollow shapes with a large radius.

The Half-Round rasp |

As with the Cabinet Makers rasps, ideal for cabinet work, but being not as wide, their profile can work more hollow forms.

The Modellers rasp |

It has the same application as the half-round, but is for carrying out finer and more precise work. Very popular among modellers, moulders, violin makers.

The Very Tapered rasp |

Available in lengths 6’’, 7’’ & 8’’ (cross section 9mm x 3.5mm) and grains from # 13 to # 15.

The Flat rasp |

Rectangular, it is useful to create flat surfaces. With three stitched sides, it can also be used to shape a hole or set square two opposite sides. The two sides of a flat rasp being the same, you can choose a different stitching-grain for the other face in order to have a 2 in 1 tool. Available in lengths from 6’’ to 12’’ and grains from # 2 to # 15.

Very oftenly used. It allows you to change or adjust a hole, carry out or finish scalloped parts.

The Square rasp |

Its low cross section, and its tapered shape, are used to adjust for small notches, perfect angles after cutting.
Available in lengths from 6’’ to 12’’ and grains from # 5 to # 15.

The Sage Leaf rasp |

Its special profile (two sides mid-round but with different radii) is very popular in the world of violin making and for finishing curves. Available in lengths of 5’’ & 7’’ and grains from # 10 to # 15.

The 8 Rifflers for shaping wood |

The eight rifflers are as many solutions to different problems of finishing or accessibility. Each riffler consists of a combination of two working parts out of the thirteen possible forms.

Essential to work very carefully as in instrument making, stick making, model making or for all parts of very small sizes. Four types: :

For tasks in cabinet making, shaping curved furniture parts. The average grain increased its efficiency and leaves a slightly ridged surface of wood to strengthen the bonding of the veneer.

These tools are designed to be mounted on drills or flexible mandrels, they are used for roughing out sculptures and bas-reliefs.
